I have a 330 sedan and when I first drove my dad's M3 convertible it didn't feel significantly faster. Mainly because it is 400lbs heavier and has a torque peak that is 1,400rpm higher.

I think I saw a very small triangular Lemfoerder logo on the rubber boots. Hard to tell but it definitely was not the logo of any other major OE supplier (TRW, Sachs, etc).

If the coolant temp drops from the "normal" 12 o'clock position only when you're moving, then returns to "normal" when you stop, your thermostat is probably stuck open and needs to be replaced.
