Had similar symptoms. Cold air at start then turning into heat in top and bottom vents. Changed out my heater valve just now and it's solved all my issues! Easy DIY well worth a try.

whatever you do don't buy MTC. I purchased one from a certain sponsor and it failed within 2 months. I purchased a VDO and its been running great. OEM or VDO should be fine
