Richard, I like the steel box concept which replaces the airbox coz it acts as a heatshield whilst keeping intake roar to a minimum. Are it's dimensions identical to a stock airbox and can a stock...

Is that a homemade intake and airbox?

That's the most interesting intake kit I've seen so far even though initially it looked like a caged armadillo!:D

I'm assuming you made it yourself - could you post details?

I didn't know that

momo made auto gear knobs. Even if that fitted your auto, wouldn't the gear change be slightly awkward where the button is positioned?

I put a momo manual knob on my step and it fits fine. All the...

Richard, that's a very interesting intake design

- what make is it and how much did you pay for it?

It looks like a K&N filter stuck into a heatshielded coloured airbox. Not being a big fan of the CAI roar, I would be interested to hear your...

The manual guys should realise that

not everybody wants the total racing experience every single time he hits the road. I drove stick for years and loved it but living in a city with heavy traffic congestion, boy am I glad I've got the...

Am I the only one that thinks that

the old CLK looks far better than the new one? What do the rest of you reckon?

The new model looks a little Honda Accord-ish at the rear and the overall shape doesn't strike me as sporty at all...

They discontinued the 323 and 328

coz the two were too close in power and badge numbers. And also coz it was a long enough time gap from the last e36 325's so reintroducing the new 325 would not be viewed as taking a step backward.

Coasting in neutral is downright dangerous

coz your brakes don't work as effectively when the gear is disengaged. Just try braking when in gear (without pressing the clutch) and compare that to braking whilst coasting in neutral - huge...

and good to see such a friendly bunch of bmw fanatics out there. :D

Colson's beema is the first e46 sedan I've seen in Europe with painted moldings - how much did it cost to get it done in...

Are you serious?

The fly by wire throttle is in my view one of the best innovations introduced to the later e46's. It's shown that electronic throttle is up to 3 times faster than the old mechanical cable. IMHO, fly...

Stu, the Dinan engine software upgrade is essentially a remapping of your ECU which can be done by Superchips in UK (www.superchips.co.uk) - should give you an extra 13-15 bhp. Can't help you with...

Re: Re: automatic/manual shift knobs

Actually I believe you can accidentally shift from D to R whilst driving - hate to imagine the consequences!! There is no longer any built in lock mechanism in the absence of the button, the only...

Would any of the ECIS heat shields

from either their e46 323/328 or 325/330 CAI kits conceivably fit onto a stock airbox with a bit of manipulation? Are the heat shields made from a flexible material? :dunno:

I enquired with Dinan...

Why would you want to replace your sports springs with Eibachs? Lowering won't be much.

But I think the Eibachs will be fine with sports shocks.

Eibach claims its springs

work fine with stock shocks but I'm not convinced.

Reason? Well, slight lowering of the car will result in the stock shocks being permanently compressed by about 30-40mm, thus reducing the...
