By pulling back on the stalk, you are activating your 'flash to pass' halogen bulbs.
The high beams are part of the Xenon lamps and activated when you push the turn signal stalk forward.

Weird Coolant issue

Car has been driving fine, Coolant gauge in the middle no issues with overheating.
