Would it not be simpler to just remove the OBD...

Would it not be simpler to just remove the OBD connector from its clips and leave it and the OBD permanently behind the cover (no kicking) no protruding :)

That is a wiring issue, i would suggest the wiring is not 100 tight make sure no exposed leads also and clips are tight.

I would say you clipped a wire. Check the bracket and drop link to the wish bone. Coilovers should have no impact.
