IMO, if you have to ask what "type" of wire to use, I would suggest not working on this yourself. Your discharge can be caused by lots of many things, and just connecting a couple unknown wires...

I will tell you - black trim looks good on just about anything if you do it right.
Start with the kidneys.... it takes 10 mins to pop them off and its an easy job...

<shrug> The tint is still sold and applied all over the place. It does a major difference to the interior temp on the car after it has been sitting in the Sahara of Orlando all day long.
