Report it to insurance for sure. The rear quarter panels are expensive to fix... You are most likely covered for hit and run type of stuff, although you will be responsible for your deductible...

Don't do it, you'll encounter reliability problems, and whoever said the interiors on that year range C-Class's are junk, hit it right on the head. Even my 06 had a ton of problems.

Washer fluid tank was cracked, replaced that
CEL from some emissions stuff, took care of that
And you were right, the oil level sender kept acting...
