Quick question, is the driveshaft engaged when the car is in neutral?

Trying to isolate it between the axle, tranny mount or guibo/central support bearing.

Nobody has experienced this type of noise? My indy is suggesting rear axle, which has some play, but I am somehow not buying that. I feel there is something in the engine bay.
