You can't directly replace a SOS mirror with a non SOS mirror. You have to take a few pins out of the connector. Search e92 mirror upgrade on here and it will tell which pins.

Don't believe that its that simple because its all ran via the lcm and that is BUS related so its not just like your normal switch you would use in something else.

Where did you get your t-stat from? I got one from oreillys and went through 5 of them in 8 months because they kept failing. Got one from napa which is the exact same manufacturer as what BMW used...
