The cost is over $100 per shock to rebuild, compared to ~$650 to buy new with lifetime warranty. Still, somebody might want them for parts or DIY rebuild.

50/50 ATF and MT is for daily drivers in colder climates. If you are not expecting freezing temperatures you can run MT only.
