There should be positive and negative terminals under the hood. Look up in the top left corner. You can also access the battery directly in the trunk on the right side.

Nissens was never the OEM provider for the E46, and probably not any other model either. They tend to be of lesser quality, and cheaper in price, to the OEM Behr replacement.
