I don't think it matters what it's made of. I used some black vacuum tubing on my Interstate battery that I bought from an auto parts store for a couple bucks and haven't had any problems.

I would also recommend spraying the dye for a more factory look. If you use a brush, you'll always see some brush marks. I use an automotive spray gun from Harbor Freight Tools that I paid $14 for.
