I have had the P1619 code twice (2001 325I w/ 190,000 miles), both times I ended up replacing the thermostat and the problem was fixed. Ebay thermometer did not last as long as OEM.

Just replace the fan, it is probably time. This happened to me this summer. I have a 2001 325 I with 180,000 miles. The fan ran down my battery. Easy repair, not a real expensive part.
