You can leak both in theory or one or the other...

You can leak both in theory or one or the other depending on the size of the hole, if small like a pin hole you would in theory have a vacuum leak as no oil would leak out as the vacum would contain...

That is definitely a leak from the o-ring from your picture anyway that sensor with o ring is cheap think it was under $30us, o-ring is cheaper yet but piece of mind is always better and as Tangent...
