Actually, it looks to me that the coupler was chosen to be rubber such that in the event of a collision, the steering column would collapse (and not impale the driver causing his untimely death).

There appears to be a general consensus that the car just doesn't want to rotate under-braking, which is inline with my experience so far.

Maybe it's me or the car...
