Sounds like a faulty sensor to me. Also try to open the bleeder screw (very slowly) while the car is warm and running to see if any air bleeds out.

Get in there with a toothbrush and some soap or degreaser and clean it is, then wait to see if that is where the T-stat leak is from. On the sensor, yes, the o-ring can leak and is replaceable.

Here is a video, but if your trip reset is not working then this procedure may not work. You may have to have a shop or someone with coding software, PA Soft, GT1, etc do the reset that way....

Maybe your new sensor is defective, try to swap it out with the Wiper fluid level sensor. They are the same sensor.

Looks for the leak(s), fix it, change coolant. 2yrs..., time to change the coolant anyway. If it is less than 24mos, the BMW parts are covered under BMW parts warranty.
