Unfortunately, the cover really is quite weak.

I would definitely say to start with those missing studs first. It's possible that with a few broken ones the valve cover isn't sealing completely.

Yes- I use the same cable to communicate with INPA as I do with NavCoder. Syncing the time is very simple- I think it is right under the "Code" tab of the program.
