Finally completed leak down test. All cylinders were 27-30%, including #3 which I was expecting to have more leakage because of its lower compression number.

I was getting wildly erratic results....

Found the problem. It was the coolant temp sensor. Replaced it with new one and temp gauge now reads as it should. Imagine that.

Does Heater Valve normally get hot before coolant?

I noticed that my heater valve got very hot quickly, before the heater hoses warmed up. I put my thermometer gun on it and is said 170F, about 100 degrees hotter than the hoses.

Is this normal?

Also, the fire caused 3 fuses to blow in the black 5-fuse holder in the e-box. It also blew fuel pump fuse and one of the cluster fuses in the glove box.

Temp Guage Pegged

2003 325i automatic, M54, 158k miles.

Temp gauge goes straight to HOT when I start the engine. OBC test shows -128. Any idea whats wrong?
