Mine was fixed with the replacement of the steering guibo and changing the front tires. To be honest I think it was more the tires than the guibo.

+1 on holding out for a 330. That's what I wanted but ended up with a 2001 325i only because it had only 42 k miles. Still wish I had a 330 though. 12k is a decent budget for an e46. Like wildirish...
