Ended up freezing the Half Shaft and pounding it through once I knew they were lined up.

If you are confident the cap was the right fit, I would go with more leverage and see if you can press it further.
Unfortunately I cant recall if my second tightening was before or after the snap...

I dont know if mine was a HF Set, but the cap that had anti seize on it in my case was marked 955-06.
I honestly dont remember if thats the one I used or not though....

When I first did mine I thought I pressed it the whole way and had some play. I ended up using a different cup (or cap - cant recall) and really wailed on...
