You hit the nail on the head I had a very similar problem with my passenger side door. It turned out to be the vapor barrier. This was 4 years ago, no leaks since.

I would suggest to double check the back of the radio before buying a newer one. My car is an '02 with a prod date of 10/01 and it had the aux port.

That gunk maybe coming from the water pump reservoir or the VANOS cable which is right to the left of your filter. Both of mine leaked replaced them a few months ago and no more leaks.

-I replace the plugs about 3 years ago and the head gasket. This problem only happen in the winter time. Never in the summer, but from the description of the fault codes it looks like...
