I don't think it's bad, it's just not as effective. You'll have to use more fluid doing it the turkey baster method... and like the comment above, it still might not completely do the job.

The Bentley Manual says 10 Nm (which is 7.4 ft-lbs) so that should be correct... even though it is quite low. I usually do about 8 or 9 to make sure I won't get leaks later, but I don't go past that.
