To get at the flap lock, you remove the trunk liner on the right above the battery. Its held in by plastic "studs" with removable pins Take the plastic studs out, and you can wiggle the liner out....

I found that the pivot pins needed taking out and cleaning, one had gone stiff because of corrosion. It had almost siezed, so was moving in jerks. Lubricate with silicone grease when re-assembling....
