Would suggest you make sure your cooling system is intact before anything else. Water pump, thermostat, expansion tank, etc...

So you're saying you have the o-ring on the sensor that plugs into the hose? If you don't then the leak makes sense. If you do have the o-ring then I would suggest getting a new sensor.
