I drive 1k miles a week.. I know for a fact that mine adjusts due to the amount of starts.. (When my spedo, odo, mpg, etc did not work the mileage still counted down based on starts in even numbers...

2001 to 2004 at this point will not make much of a different in reliability.. If you want to "trade up" to something more reliable then stop looking at BMW. If you want to stay BMW take it as it is.....

Probably the switch... When you cut the wires in the ribbon cable the lights turn on.. So the switch only opens the circuit... Not like a "normal" car..

It may not set the light... I removed the fan completely and used a aftermarket speed/fan controller... It had a soft code for the fan always but the light never came on. On your code reader check...

You need to get the EML code read... You dont need to bring it the BMW or a "BMW Indy" to get it read.. Just someone with a good code reader... The cheaper ones will NOT read it...
