2x4 under the oil pan worked fine for me. To make matters worse.. the missing bolt head snapped off and I had to extract the rest.. total PITA, but it's fixed now. I torqued to 25 ft/lbs to be safe...

Yep, I used BMW coolant. Last thing I did was swap out the expansion tank. I did burp the system. BUT, I only drained the radiators coolant. I probably had pure distilled water still in be block....
