What year is it?

I think I read that pinch protection (and auto-up) was added to the passenger side in 2003 or 2004.

Mine is a 2002, and it doesn't have it, even though the switch feels like it should.

update

I went with the new alternator. It certainly looks brand new, and at $270 including overnight shipping, I'm pretty happy with the price.

After the swap, no more battery light, so problem solved....

There were a lot more chips near the front, but half the bottle did most of the hood. I was putting the paint on a cloth and smearing it over the chips, so I wasn't exactly being conservative....
