In this case, e46, the manual will always win. But to say automatics aren't as fast as manuals is not am end-all, be-all statement. There are plenty of automatics that are faster than a manual.

Oil filter housing gasket...all nasty. Switched out the gasket, cleaned the undertray. I drove it for a week and checked the undertray and...nothing! Nice!
