I did have my tyres at 40 psi (cold) but that was on semis :o

Go by the handbook/ tyreplacard (on the b-pillar) is safe.
But I tend to keep it at 42psi min (for comfort) to 45 psi (mileage/handling).
45psi works well on my mates Merc.

The DB is a quiet but not a performance tyre. Different class.
