Should get hot air regardless if AC is on or not. Temp is controlled by the blue and red arrows. Use AC with heat as a dehumidifier to defog windows.

I just replaced a WP that was rattling, loudly. Get a Tstat and do with the waterpump. Easier to do waterpump with tstat off and it's a common fail point anyways.
