Ujoints are possible to replace. U just need a shop press. Or u can try install a grease fitting to lube the old ones. Usually they just run dry of grease.

Does anyone even know how hydrolic lifters function? They fill with oil via an oil port, there is a check ball inside the cykjnder to keep them from bleeding out after the cam lobe squishes the valve...

No harm in loctiting the oil pump nut while your in there. With 180k I would atleast bore guage the cylinder walls(the top half) and if they are in spec roll with it.
