Brushed Aluminum Trim Cleaning ?

I'm looking for for suggestions (from experience) of what you guys use to clean the brushed aluminum trim on the E46 with.

I plan to use 303 as the protectant but its needs to be cleaned first....

Boat Wax???

I recently had some paint work done on the car and the shop uses a carnuba free wax upon completion, lets the paint breathe....

They recommened using a detergent proof boat wax from a marine store...
