If the puncture is in the middle 1/3 of the tread and you get it patched, not just plugged, you will be fine. I did this with an r-comp of mine and it held up perfectly for many heat cycles, right...

Hawk DTC-70 Front *Track Pads* for E36/E46 M3/M Coupe

The DTC-70 is the top of the line Hawk racing pad.

Pads are evenly worn. Thickness, less the backing plate, is 11.7 mm, or 81% left if you use 14 mm as full thickness and 2 mm as the throw-away...
