It is not fake. If you take off the trim, you will see that it is wood veneer glued to plastic base for reinforcement.

VERY nice!!!

I like wood too and kept it in my car. Once a year I take off the trim, polish it with Menzerna Final Finish and finish off with a wax.

Good question!

I believe it is the lacquer that cracks, not the wood. All the ups and downs in temperature. It's just not that elastic. That's my theory.
