I agree, but diesel engines also have higher compression ratios and have more exhaust pressure. I believe it could handle the rpm's.

It should, if you have a manifold that fits the input flange on the turbine.

Also, I personally would upgrade internals before installing a GT42 turbo, but I don't know much about the S54 block...

Yes I have the DISA, I basically have the entire m54 engine, but it is the 2,2 litre version found in the Canadian-spec 320i so it was impossible to sell and I already took some sensors off.
