Ahhh he does have them! 1156 and 7506 are the same bulb, but I didn't know that til now (US vs Euro Number).

We have the same year and model, but the bulbs you linked me to have the "OFF SET" connectors on the sides. The bulbs that came with my care are the 180 degree side connectors....

This is absolutely right... I finally got the willpower to do this project and you actually do need to lift the rear deck lid a couple of inches and grab those circlips with pliers and yank them out....
