No difference. Some of the 318i's may be a "M-Sport" package, meaning they have the M3-style bumpers, steering wheel etc.

There is no difference in the actual car itself.

The oil plugs on our cars are hollow. If you snap the head, just use an easy-out (reverse thread) and it will come straight out. Very easy fix.

My M3 had the exact same problem and the voltage dropped when the car was on.

Easiest way to test if it's the alternator is disconnect the battery while the car is running...
