I think the fix is a '00 328i steering rack. Last time I checked that part was about $800. I own a '01 330i and decided as easy as a steering rack replacement is I'll pass.

Also consider swapping...

you could always install an inline manual switch...

you could always install an inline manual switch to turn it off :)

just find the relay that controls the A/C fan, and put the switch in the 'trigger' side of the relay....

yeah, my mustang used a much heavier clutch fan, but I track-tested about an ~8 HP gain (nearly a full mph in trap speed gain) by moving to an electric fan from the clutch fan.
