No you don't have to remove the bottom skid. That being said I always do just to make sure the electric fan seats correctly when putting it back in.

Just be sure you let them know your manufacture...

Just be sure you let them know your manufacture date when ordering. There was a revision to the connecting hose for the CVV. I learned this the hard way.
