Yeah that's what I was afraid of. I like to do things right the first time so I guess I'll have to hold off on reassembly until I get a new set of lifters.

Everything, radiator included. I swapped over electric cooling fan from the manual car too.

Nope, everything on the cooling system was replaced except the hard water pipes under the intake manifold. Those blew out a few months ago then were replaced. The head gasket problem was found...

All the machine shop did was resurface. I removed the cams and lifters at home and that's when I found the oddities. The car has been previously worked on with non oem parts and half ass work.

I made a mistake purchasing a car poorly maintained yes. I've had coolant leaks since month one and it's been to reputable shops in the area multiple times.

Head gasket blew this time due to excessive overheating from coolant issues. Head was improperly torqued using non oem bolts ground down to size. Block had to be time sert to be sure it would hold...

The head gasket blew so that's what I'm in this time around. The 11-13 lift number count was meant to say that this head has been worked on before. Someone else had used XZN triple square head bolts...

Well ****, I was afraid the deeper ones were foreign. The shallowish one on the right looks oem to me. There are 13 deep odd ones, and 11 of the OEM ones.

Edit: I guess the better question is since the lifters on the left aren't OEM obviously, should I replace them? My car is a 2002 330Xi

Does anyone have the head bolt time sert kit? I believe it's M10x1.5 and 24.5mm long. I'll buy replacement inserts I just don't want to buy the whole 400 dollar kit.
