I was seriously considering a 128i 6 speed. I think they made them through 2013MY or something. They're pretty cheap and relatively reliable. I think they just have that horrible electric water pump....

I think you could get the transmission out fairly easily. I mean some of these are high dollar items. So if you can work on it a couple weekends you can extract a few thousand dollars worth of items....

The splines are roughly 6 degrees apart. It's pretty obvious if you're off. I think the first one I did was off by this much due to installer error (me). I fixed it before I even put the car back...

Don't upgrade to Windows 10 unless you're sure that your laptop hardware is all good with it. My Thinkpad was not really happy with Win 10.
