Just a plastic plug.
Earlier built cars has an actual temp sensor inserted in hole.
Later built cars has a plastic plug in its place and the sensor was moved/integrated into the MAF sensor.

The rear can easily accomodate 265 wide tires without any modification with the right offset wheels. With the right offset wheels, the front will fit up to 255 tire width with no fender roll.
