I sprayed the bolts connecting the old exhaust to the headers once or twice a day with penetrating oil for a week before my install. They came off easily. I did the rest by myself on jack stands.

Use three golf tee's to plug the soft fuel lines. Use the end caps from the new filter to cover the ends of the old filter....

I had a similar noise caused by over-tightening...

I had a similar noise caused by over-tightening my swaybar mounts...the bar could not rotate smoothly in the bushings and would make horrible noises.

IIRC they were loose in a sealed in a box from meyle. I assumed all the scuffs/wear marks were from them rubbing on each other during shipping.
