The reason for the fire from the exhaust is most likely that he took out catalytic conv and replaced it with a test pipe (aka straight through pipe, no cat).

Yes they should, the offset is right and so is the bolt pattern. As long as this offset is used for all corners. I believe rear (real) M3 rims do not fit the 328ci as the offset is too low.
