Here's the Model I'm building before....
This is the car I'm currently working on. This picture was taken by my father in 1956 soon after he finished building it. He built the car from parts that he collected from junk yards, and parts that were still left over at Ford Dealerships (there were no repro parts companies then). He drove the car for about 45k miles and then sold it because he needed money for school.
He kept track of the car, and had an idea where it was. About 15 years ago, he saw it in the town he lives in, and after inspecting the car, he saw that it was indeed his. It's has some individual characteristics, the mixing of the green paint, and the whole car was bult with brass bolts (dont rust), and there were some parts he constructed by hand because they couldnt be found. Then about 5 years ago, we called the guy who he had met 15 years prior about purchasing the car back, he was hestitant, but after we visited the car it was running on a couple cylinders, and was not on a good path. So, we ended up working a deal and buying the car back. We soon after took everything apart, right down to the frame. We have the engine, and 90% of the parts taken apart and restored. We had the body blasted and prime, and its now being painted. Thats our only hold up , this guy we took it too is the best around but slow as hell. The guy who blasted the car knew a model a specialist, who said the body was in the best condition that he'd ever seen, which was because my father layered the car with red lead paint before priming and having it painted 40 years prior.
He built the car when he was 18, and now i'm doing it...so its a pretty cool family tradition...keep you guys updated!
