Also would like to point out that I just did this over the weekend on my 99 323i(complete cooling overhaul incl. radiator) and i actually had only one bleed screw under the et and had two fans!  one electric and one mechanical?! And yes my car is a standard, always has been??? Anybody else run into this?
Happy to say the diy was still very succussful thanks to above info and links
