Yeah, I have seen other youtube vids on removing it w/o the proper wrenches. IMO (please nobody yell at me for his) if you are going to work on your car, you shoudl have the tools.


Quick note - the fan clutch removal tool is sort of universal. You can pick up one for a GMC Jimmy or Ford Explorer and you will be good. I was dumb and bought mine online from bimmerspecialists and paid a fortune to have it sent to Canada ... and when I got it, the packaging lists all these domestic trucks that it will work on.

re: summertime performance - some guys have posted in this thread - they say they are good. Again, this is the fan that is used with the manual tranny.

omg - thanks Jake. I ijst re-read your post and it just came to me. You are right !! allfour of those damn things broke. Definitely brittle from years of heat. I guess @ my age my memory needs to be jolted @ times
