If you don't already have HID low beams, you will get much bigger return on your investment/effort by doing that upgrade. After upgrading to HID, I have found very little use for the fog lights for vision (and I live by a very large lake which causes lots of fog).
Fogs require a very low beam with a sharp cut off. This typically means a projector-type housing. The generally rectangular housing in the pre-facelift models are not projectors, so nothing is plug-n-play.
If you want "whiter" light, consider replacing the bulbs with SilverStar Ultras or similar products.
