I bet the shop could weld a new bolt on to the same spot. Then they could thread the nut and secure the bracket. It might not be quite as flush as the original but at least it would hold.

Unless JB Weld would work? I've never used it so I don't know if it's strong enough.

Welding is probably easier than drilling/tapping a new bolt, IMHO, if they have a welder.
