I gotta agree with that. I would also try to do some of the smaller water hoses that dont often get replaced, like the hoses for the heater core, and maybe find a way to block off all but one of them, and do a pressure test to make sure they sealed tight. You don't want to have to go back in once the engine is in the way again. But it would be a shame to have such good access, and not do them.
It would also be a shame to miss the chance to clean up that engine bay really well.
I know that it is easy to give in to the "I want to get it done!" mindset, but taking the time to hit all of the little details would make you feel better than just an engine swap.
Of course, that is easier for me to say on this end of things!
